Wellhayes is situated at the epicentre of an incredible movement centred on organic farming and sustainable land management, fairtrade, rural crafts and handmade, healthy local food. Spearheaded by The Peasant Evolution Cooperative their, and others, produce can be purchased at Bridport Market, Axminster Market, and Miller's Farm Shop (which also has an incredible selection of French produce and wine). Beer Fisheries, a little beyond Seaton on the coast is great for wet fish. A visit to any of these is a day out in itself, and enough to work up an all consuming appetite.

Nearby, at River Cottage HQ, the River Cottage Kitchen is great value for money for breakfast or lunch. A little further afield The Seaside Boarding House offers cocktails, lunches and dinners in a the relaxed sophisticated environment you would expect from the founders of the Groucho Club.
